The Junior Warden sits in the South of the Lodge behind a pedestal on which there is a Gavel, Rough Stone and a Column of Office.
His symbol is The Plumb Rule

The Plumb Rule can be found on the collar he wears and on the front of the pedestal he sits behind.

The rough stone we call a Rough Ashlar represents an unrefined Freemason

The Column of Office
Also, on his pedestal is a column that is adorned with a Terrestrial Globe. This column is placed in an upright position when the Lodge is ‘closed’.


A candle sits on top of a further column that represents his office. This is a Doric column and symbolically represents Strength
